GoodWeave India by the virtue of its social program has been actively organising Health and Awareness camps for workers in the Carpet Weaving communities. By partnering with Employee’s State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to conduct these localised camps, the organisation has attempted to strengthen and facilitate the already existing worker health programs, and enhance service delivery. The program’s latest endeavour involved a local health camp in Panipat that offered health assessment (spot diagnosis and treatment) as well as awareness and counselling to individual workers. Besides a continued insistence on free testing, the initiative also aims at providing enough information resources to make the workers active recipients of Public Health initiatives.

Our last camp in Panipat on 21st of July catered to about 60 carpet workers and was hosted at Raj Overseas, one of GoodWeave’s licensees. Supported by the ESIC team consisting of Dr. Rekha, Mrs. Indrawati (Counsellor), Mrs. Priti (Pharmacist), and Mr. Kuldeep (Assistant), it incorporated individual assessments, face-to-face counselling, medicine distribution, as well as
interactive awareness-building sessions.   A key notion addressed within the camp had been that of health hazards that workers are most frequently confronted by. This activity, as well as other health camps organised by GoodWeave are invariably linked with one of our broad goals of ensuring worker safety and hygiene.
