Most photographs for the site were contributed by GoodWeave India Team.
Some of the photographs for this website were taken by noted documentary filmmaker and photographer, Robin Romano during his trips to South Asia in 2000 and 2007. As part of his Stolen Childhoods project, Romano traveled to schools, vocational training centers, and production facilities supported by GoodWeave to record the impact of its certification and rehabilitation work on the ground.
The centerpiece of Stolen Childhoods is a hard-hitting feature documentary film, which premiered in 2004. Filming was done in the U.S., India, Indonesia, Mexico, Kenya and Brazil, where Romano also photographed illegal child labor in onion farms, fishing platforms, tobacco plantations, coffee harvests and brick factories. Stolen Childhoods was written by two-time Academy Award winning filmmaker Mark Harris, narrated by actress Meryl Streep and co-directed by Len Morris and Robin Romano.
Robin has generously supported GoodWeave by partnering with GoodWeave to produce the Faces of Freedom traveling photo exhibition, which debuted in the fall of 2008. Click here to learn more.
